Driving Delays In The Aitkin Area Upcoming

BAXTER, Minn. — Motorist traveling Highway 210/169 between Aitkin and Hassman will encounter delays as segments of the road reduce to a single lane beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27.

 

Flaggers will allow alternating traffic through the work zone.

 

The closures will continue Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. as crews resurface the road.

 

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes when possible and be prepared to stop when approaching the work zone.

 

The work and closures will be complete by Thursday, Sept. 13, weather permitting.

Cass County Man Dead After Logging Accident

WALKER, Minn. (AP) — A 50-year-old Benedict man is dead after an apparent logging accident in Cass County.
Sheriff Tom Burch says Wednesday that authorities got a call about a logging accident Tuesday afternoon in Pike Bay Township. They arrived to find the man had been hit by a large tree that fell from a logging boom.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His name hasn't been released.
