Gary Walters, with Kinship Partners, has another fund-raising event slated for tonight. At 10 p.m. he'll begin unicycling around the track at Don Adamson Field following the Warriors football game in Brainerd. They've been raising money and pledges for the benefit of Kinship Partners. Gary told K-Lakes News that this is only the latest of this fund-raising stunts: he's swum Mille Lacs, sat on the Brainerd Water Tower, walked the state, and lost weight--all in an effort to help Kinship. Mr. Walters plans to unicycle for 24-hours--'til 10 p.m. on Thursday. You're welcome to stop by and view the spectacle (he says he's not the tiniest of people), and help a non-profit. "Buckle Up, and Slow Down"

'tis the Season of deer, and Sergeant Curt Mowers, of the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, tells K-Lakes' News that it's always good to bear in mind that the deer are around--mainly at night. He also mentioned that the YTD fatalities for the state are down--due, they feel, in part to the fact that folks are driving slower to conserve gasoline. He also noted that the State Highway Patrol is in the middle of their October Seat Belt Mobilization, but that not wearing a seatbelt is not a primary offense. As always, Sergeant Mowers suggested that we "Buckle up, and Slow Down!"
