Cass Lake Man indicted

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 28-year-old Cass Lake man is accused of kidnapping and kicking a girl on northern Minnesota's Red Lake Indian Reservation.

A federal indictment charges Robert Elliot Roybal Jr. with two counts of kidnapping and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Prosecutors allege that Roybal kidnapped a girl under the age of 18 on June 26, 2010. The indictment also alleges that Roybal assaulted the girl by kicking her.

The indictment was unsealed Wednesday after Roybal made his first court appearance.

Three Injured in B.P. Accident

A two car accident in Breezy Point Friday afternoon sent three to the hospital.

Breezy Point Police say a vehicle driven by a juvenile male from Duluth failed to stop at the Ski Chalet/Co Rd 11 intersection and was struck broadside by a vehicle driven by a man from Aitkin. The juvenile driver and his adult female passenger were flow out by air with significant injuries. They are expected to recover. A man from Aitkin received minor injuries and was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

Iowa Man Dies in Hwy 371 Accident

A 26-year-old Iowa man died in a one vehicle accident on Highway 371 near Nisswa about 2 a.m. Friday morning.

The man has been identified as Rocky P Lund of Ridgeway, Iowa.   The MN State Patrol says his 1994 pickup truck was north bound on Hwy 371 when it left the right side of the road, struck an approach and rolled over. Lund was alone in the vehicle.

Plane Crash on No. Long Lake

The pilot walked away from the second float plane accident in 30 days in the Brainerd Lakes.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl says the accident happened on North Long Lake about 1 p.m.Sunday.  Apparently the pilot was coming in for a landing when the craft nosed into the water and flipped over.  The pilot was able to swim away from the disabled plane.  The family was able to pull the craft to shore.

A 55-year-old Crosslake man died when his float plane drashed while taking off from Upper Whitefish Lake July 22nd.
