Annual Bluegrass Festival Cancelled
The Lakes Bluegrass Festival has been cancelled for this year. It is a summer event held at the Cass County Fair Grounds in Pine River. Organizer Tim Roggenkamps said after much consideration, they have decided to cancel the event. He says they had two great years and were glad to be able to raise enough funds to build a first-class stage on the fairgrounds, provide much needed power upgrades and were able to donate funds for repairs and maintenance. Over 20-thousand dollars were raised over two years and was reinvested in the fairgrounds.

We are sorry to hear of the festival's ending! Thanks so much to Tim and Cindy and all those great Pine River volunteers for hosting one of the best bluegrass festivals ever in Minnesota! We really enjoyed Pine River as well and hope that someday a similar festival might be able to return. Thanks again for all your work!
This Pine River Town is pretty much a ghost town in the summer compared to other small towns...I know alot of folks are going to miss this...The Festival was a shot in the arm...what happened?? This was a triumph for two years and brought in alot of revenue for the area...I realize that this takes alot of work, but seems to have been paying off... rugerbill
