Rodrigues Brings His Death Sentence Appeal to St. Paul

(AP) Alfonso Rodrigues Jr. will take his case to over-turn a death sentence against him to a three judge panel in St. Paul today. Rodrigues was convicted in the 2003 murder of University of North Dakota Student Dru Sjodin of Pequot Lakes.
Rodrigues lawyers are expected to focus on closing arguments and the trial location. They are claiming the jury was biased and mistakes were made by both the judge and prosecutors.
The prosecutors say he was treated fairly.
Dru was kidnapped from a shopping mall. Her body was found near Crookston in 2004.
