Area law enforcement officers are working extra hours for the rest of the month. Their goal is to increase the number of people who wear seat belts. Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Curt Mower said not wearing a seat belt can be deadly. Mower said just over 130 people have died in highway crashes so far this year, about 20 fewer than last year. Mower said he would like nothing better than to get through some year with no one dying on the highway.
