The Real Ground Hog Story

A ground hog is actually a woodchuck, according to Brainerd DNR Non-Game Specialist Pam Perry.  It is large rodent, which is generally harmless, if you can keep them out of the garden.  She says they want to eat everything.

Perry says the only reason we think they can predict an early spring, is because we get a little "Cabin Feverish" this time of year.

Perry says great horned owls are in a nest-making mode now.  She says they are known as the tiger of the woods, and have been known to take small dogs and cats.
