Koering Wants Slot Machines at Canterbury

State Senator Paul Koering, Fort Ripley, is hoping to ring the til with state-run slot machines at Canterbury Park Racetrack in Shakopee.
The idea idea of a Racino has been around a long time. Koering estimates adding one-armed bandits to the horse racing track could generate between $100 million and $200 million per year for the state.
Senator Koering said, "Our Native American friends have casinos all over the State and the taxpayers are not receiving one cent of revenue off that gaming."
He goes on to say, "In this economy, I think it makes sense to allow the state to accept money that people are going to drop into a slot machine if they are inclined to do so anyway."

I think this is a great idea to generate revenue for the state!!
The tracks are already built, they are highly regulated by the state already, and could get money to the state this year! Not to mention the boost it could give agriculture, the job market and the racing industry. What do we have to do to make "Racinos" happen?

I am all for Racinos. The state should benefit from those who like to gamble...it's optional so kind of like a voluntary tax. They should put them at that harness track too and help the whole horse industry in the process. There's a lot of people working in racing and our state needs to keep people working!

I am all for Racinos. People who like to gamble may as well help generate tax revenue for the state. God knows we need all the voluntary tax money people are willing to pay!
They should put games at both the tracks and keep the people they have working. We got to keep people employed in Minnesota. Besides, I like horse racing and would like to see it stay here and keep 'em running!

I know that alot of people think that the compacts with the native american tribes provide them with exclusivity - not true! Right now the tribes have a monopoly on a multi-billion dollar industry that is not paying taxes on its gaming revenue! Slots at Running Aces and Canterbury Park could add hundreds of millions to Minnesota's revenue and help alleviate drastic budget cuts and tax increases! We just need to convince our legislators! How? Check out www.MN-racinos.com and get involved!
