Howes Says Average Workers Are Not Being Heard

State Representative Larry Howes of Walker is concerned about who did not show up at recent legislative listening sessions. Hearings were held last week in Brainerd and Bemidji on the Governor's budget balancing proposal. Howes tells KLKS News, 97% of those who testified were those whose programs are subject to cuts. He says "Joe and Jane Worker" weren't there because the Governor's proposal does not propose a tax increase which would affect them. Howes felt testimony from those in education, health care and the courts, about the cuts that would affect them, was genuine.
