Koering Differs with the Governor on Budget Cuts
State Senator Paul Koering of Fort Ripley says he supports most of the Governor's proposals to balance the budget. However, he tells KLKS News, he does not like the idea of holding K-12 eduction funding harmless, while making cuts in health and human services spending. He says when the February forecast is released, we may be looking at a revenue shortfall $2 billion higher than currently predicted. Senator Koering will be looking for input from voters Saturday. Town Hall meetings will be held in Nisswa from 8:30 a.m to 10; Baxter, 10:30 to noon; Brainerd, 12:30 to 2 p.m. and Crosby, 2:30 p.m. to 4.
