Senate Republicans Offer Different Perspective

Governor Pawlenty and Democrat legislative leaders flew around the state on Monday, sharing their thoughts about the end of the legislative session. Most of their reflections were very positive. Senate Republicans covered the state on Tuesday and their message was less than euphoric. Eden Prairie lawmaker David Hann said the solutions that ended the session tended to be short-term. Hann said we've spent down 80% of the state's rainy day fund and some expect state deficits for the next budget cycle to be as high as $3-Billion. Hann said Minnesotans have more taxes and regulations than before the last session and spending has not been brought under control in light of an uncertain economic future.
