Pequot Lakes Man Pleads Guilty to Murder

27-year old Matthew Raymond Smoot pleaded guilty Tuesday to second degree unintentional murder for driving the car that killed Joseph Jordan of Nisswa nearly three years ago. Smoot crashed into Jordan's car in July 2005. His blood alcohol count was .29 at the time, more than three times the legal limit. Smoot was sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison, a third of which can be served on supervised release.
