Another Shot at a Local Woman by the Record Labels

(AP)  The record labels are determined to severely punish a Brainerd woman.

A federal jury has awarded the major labels $1.5 million in an Internet music sharing case.  The jury says Jammie Thomas-Rasset of Brainerd owes $62,500 per song for sharing 24 songs on the web.

Last year the woman was ordered to pay nearly $2 million to the record companies.  However Chief U.S. District Judge Michael Davis reduced the award to $54-thousand calling the penalty "Monstrous and shocking."

The Record labels released a statement saying Thomas-Rasset needs to take responsibility for sharing with others.
