Library Basket Auction Saturday

The Pequot Lakes Library is hosting its 5th annual Basket Auction Saturday at Deacon's Lodge in Breezy Point. It may be the most important of the five, because they are paying off $95 thousand in loans for the new library in town.

Mayor Nancy Adams tells KLKS News, community libraries continue to be very important, even with the wide-spread use of the internet. She says library useage at the new library has grown every month since it opened in June.

The 2010 budget has been raised from $15 thousand to $17 thousand as they look purchase new materials. The library is typically open four hours a day, and staffed by volunteers.
