Sen Carlson Proposes Tuition Freeze
State Senator John Carlson of Bemidji has introduced a bill to freeze tuition increases at state colleges and universities. It would be a two year freeze and an increase limitation thereafter.
The Republican member of the Higher Education Committee tells KLKS News, They can cover the costs of the freeze by removing the administration bloat.
The tuition freeze would be in place between July 1, 2011, and June 30, 2013. After that, tuition increases from could not exceed the annual increase in inflation.
