PL Student Accused of Arson

An 18-year-old Pequot Lakes High School student is charged with first degree arson at the school last Friday.

John Adam Kastner is accused of starting a fire with toilet paper in the boys room around 9:30 a.m.  He was arraigned in Crow Wing County Court Monday.

Smoke set off the fire alarms and sprinklers, sending water into the halls and students into the cold morning air. 

Students were allowed back in after a short stay outside. 

Kastner was expected to graduate in the spring.  The charges are likely to delay that.
