MPCA Fines Race Track
Ogilvie Raceway and the Brainerd office of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency recently reached an agreement that requires the company to pay more than $11 thousand for alleged stormwater violations during the 2009 construction of the auto race track.
According to MPCA inspection reports, the company failed to install proper silt fencing and stabilize exposed soils and ditches to prevent erosion and runoff. They also failed to use infiltration methods rather than discharging from an on-site stormwater pond directly to the nearby Groundhouse River, which is on the state’s impaired waters list. In addition to paying the civil penalty, the company is required to complete a series of corrective actions.
Ogilvie is located midway between Milaca and Mora in Kanabec County.
