Rodriquez Last Steps

(AP)  Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. is running out of options.  The 57-year-old Crookston man is in what is considered to be the final step of his murder conviction.

Rodriguez is on death row in Fargo for the 2003 kidnapping and murder of North Dakota Student Dru Sjodin of Pequot Lakes.

A federal appeals court has already upheld the death sentence.

A Northwestern University law professor has been appointed to lead Rodriquez legal team in the so-called habeas corpus hearing.
