Child Killed in Pine River School Bus Accident on Monday

A child has died in a school bus accident south of Pine River. The Associated Press reports the boy was a Pine River-Backus elementary school student. It says he was struck after exiting the bus Monday afternoon. The age and name of the student were not available. Kristil Mcdonald, the principal at the Pine River-Backus High School said a crisis team was convened and that members had contacted all the families of students who were on the bus at the time of the accident. The crisis team will be available to staff, students and community members on Tuesday at the school.
