Deer Harvest Down

DNR officials hoped to reduce the deer harvest last year. It appears they were successful.

The total harvest last year was 194,178 down 12 percent from 2008.

Wildlife officials wanted to reduce the size of the herd statewide to something more manageable.

The biggest downturn in the harvest came during the muzzleloader season, down 15 percent from the year before.
