Death Row Inmate Charged in Baxter

(AP) A former Ohio death row inmate has been arrested in Baxter after striking his son with a baseball bat.

45-year-old Kenneth Thomas Richey is accused of assaulting Sean Richey at the younger man's home on January 6th. The fracas allegedly grew nasty after the pair had been engaged in a friendly wrestling match.

The elder Richey was freed on $3000 bond.

Richey had been convicted of setting a house fire in 1986 in which a 2-year-old girl died. A federal appeals court released him from death row finding that his lawyer had mishandled the case.
