CLC Goes to a Football Bowl
The Central Lakes College football team from Brainerd will play Ellsworth Community College of Iowa Falls, Iowa, in the Graphic Edge Bowl on Sunday, Nov. 22.
The game will be at 3 p.m. in the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. Ellsworth is 7-3 and a Division I athletic scholarship school. The first game of the day pits North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton) against Joliet, Ill.
The Raiders (10-1), who are coming off the best football season in school history, were also offered opportunities to play in bowl games in Rochester and Hutchinson, Kan.
CLC on Sunday, Nov. 8 captured its first Minnesota College Athletic Conference championship, 20-14, in overtime over Rochester Community and Technical College.
The team will travel to Cedar Falls on Sat., Nov. 21 and attend an evening banquet honoring the athletes.
In 1988 Central Lakes College lost to Iowa Central (Fort Dodge), 28-7, in the UNI Dome Royal Crown Bowl. That is the only other bowl appearance in school history.
