Oberstar Says Minnesota Homes Will Be Warmer

Thousands of Minnesota families will be warmer this winter and realize lower heating bills because of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Congressman Jim Oberstar says the Minnesota Department of Commerce will receive $52.7 million to weatherize 16,800 homes this year.

Oberstar says northeast Minnesota should see thousands of additional construction jobs with the installation of insulation, double-paned windows and storm doors on out-of-date homes.

Upon the successful completion of the first two-year phase of the program, Minnesota will be eligible for an additional $65 million in weatherization funding from ARRA.
