Taxpayers Have a Say
This Friday, taxpayers will get a chance to tell lawmakers what's wrong with current proposals to fix the state's huge budget deficit and suggest a better way.
State Representatives and Senators will be holding a series of Town Hall Meetings around the state, according to Bemidji State Senator Mary Olson.
The deficit is now pegged at $4.8 billion. However, that could rise to $7 billion with the March projections. The Brainerd meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Washington Education Services building. The Little Falls gathering will be at 9:30 a.m. at the Morrison County Government Center. And, the Bemidji meeting will be held at Bemidji State University at 3:30 p.m.
