The MPCA Fines Three Area Businesses

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency completed 50 enforcement cases in the fourth quarter of 2008, totaling more than 300,000 dollars. Included in the actions, were three in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
The fines included $11,700 at Silverstreak Dairy, Pierz, for feedlot violations;
$2,500 at Rainbow Painting, Brainerd, for hazardous waste violations and
$1,000 at Ideal Construction, Staples, for air quality violations.
In all of 2008, 176 cases were concluded totaling $1.6 million in penalties.
