Crosslake Man Dies in Fire

A house fire in Crosslake claimed the life of an elderly man Wednesday afternoon. He has been identified as 82-year-old Max Hildreth Thames. A neighbor spotted the blaze and called the fire department shortly after 3 p.m. By the time police and fire arrived, the house was fully engulfed. Hildreth lived in the house with his wife, who was gone at the time. The home was on Hen Lake, part of the White Fish Chain of lakes. Firefighters remained on the scene until 7 pm. The home was a total loss.
