Special Election in Minnesota Senate District 16
Governor Tim Pawlenty is calling for a special election to fill the State Senate vacancy in District 16. The opening was created by the resignation of Senator Betsy L. Wergin, who the Governor appointed to the Public Utilities Commission.
Among others, the district covers Morrison and Mill Lacs counties.
The special election will be held Tuesday, November 4Th, the date of the general elections. If a primary is necessary, it will be on Tuesday, September 9Th.
Anyone interested in running in Senate District 16 needs to file with the Secretary of State by 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2008.
