1st Anniversary of Wadena Twister

It was one year ago today that a devastating tornado ripped through Wadena.  Leveling buildings and trees, the town continues to recover from the havoc.

Lost to the storm was the Wadena-Deer Creek High School.  Students have been educated in other buildings, but are scheduled to be back in their own school next year.  The new facility will be built at the site of the destroyed building.

A new book preserves the stories of the survivors.  A book launch is set for this afternoon at the Wadena County Historical Society for "Twisted Together by an EF4.

June 17, 2010 began as a humid day and ended with a power tornado.
