Pequot Hwy 371 Vote Tonight
A special Pequot Lakes City Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight for a decisive vote on the controversial Highway 371 bypass.
The so-called municipal consent would give the city's blessing to the Minnesota Department of Transportation to move forward on future construction of a new road surface around town.
Pequot Lakes Mayor Nancy Adams is expected to address the gathering before the final vote. A public hearing was held earlier, so it is unlikely public comments will be received tonight.
The bypass would move the highway a half mile east of the current stoplight. The work is to begin in 2018.
