Seat Belt Success in C.W. Co.
More vehicle occupants are buckling up in Crow Wing County these days, if the October Seat Belt Mobilization seat belt enforcement project is any indication.
A 20 day seat belt blitz last month indicates seat belt usage rate to be at 92 per cent, according to Brainerd Police Chief Corky McQuiston.
There were at least 346 vehicle stops in the county, 83 seat belt citations and at least 34 seat belt warnings.
Other activity also included 111 warnings for speeding, 15 speeding citations, four custodial arrests, two DWI arrests, at least four Driving After Revocation/Suspension charges, and at least 43 other citations as well as other various warnings and contacts. State Patrol troopers in the Brainerd District report at least 169 seat belt citations written during the October blitz.
Area departments who worked together during the October Seat Belt Mobilization enforcement project included the State Patrol, Crow Wing County, and officers from the police departments of Brainerd, Baxter, Nisswa, Deerwood, Cross Lake, Cuyuna; Emily, Crosby and Breezy Point.
