Fire Damages Church in Pequot Lakes

A room in the First Baptist Church in Pequot Lakes was damaged by fire Friday Night. According to the Brainerd Dispatch, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one room which was being used as an office. Fire Chief Tom Nelson said that the call came in about 11:45pm Friday and that the cause of the blaze was not known. According to Nelson, about 20 firefighters responded to the call and were able to clear the scene in about three hours. Very little damage was done to the church itself.
