Ice Fest is Back At Breezy Point

It looks like three is the charm for the annual Breezy Point Ice Fest this weekend. It has been that many years since the ice has been suitable for the winter celebration on the ice outside Breezy Point Resort. Organizer Dave Guenther says the ice is 16 to 18 inches thick, perfect for the snowmobile radar runs. He says there will be 30 divisions of sleds. The speed record is 183 miles an hour.
Guenther says it will be good to see the The World Champion Ice Auger contest back again too. There will be seven divisions featuring hand augers, powered stock, modified and antique equipment for kids, men and women. For a $10 entry fee, the winner gets a trophy and jacket, and there will be other drawings.
The Radar Runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. The Ice Auger contest from 2 to 4. Registration will be from noon until 2.
The event concludes with fireworks at 7 p.m.
