Bear Hunting Success, Not So Good

The bear harvest is down this hunting season, according to Area Wildlife Supervisor Gary Drotts of the DNR. He tells KLKS News, the unusually hot and dry weather the first week of the season slowed the hunt. Drotts, does not expect the success rate to improve. He says they usually take about 150 bears a year, and about two thirds are taken in the first week. This year, only 34 were harvested.
