MALL OF AMERICA SUICIDE

Bloomington Police are investigating the death of a man who apparently jumped off the 6th floor of the Mall of America parking ramp. Someone reported a body on the road on the east side of the shopping mall. Police Sergeant Mark Stehlik said there were no indications of foul play. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled the death a suicide. The man's name has not been released.

I was there too, we were just walking through the overpass from the ramp to the mall and there were a bunch of cops on the street below, i looked out the window and saw the body covered by a blanket but there was blood running under the blanket. we went in the mall and no one seemed to know what happened. That was the only time i saw it.

Sounds like it was relationship related. Something was being said by the cops about a break up that brought him to do this. I was there to. I have looked everywhere online and this little snipet of news is all I can find on it....

I was there on sunday evening when this happened on the east ramp. I didnt see the guy jump but there was lots of police there and people were looking from the skyway. I couldnt find anything about it in the news the other day. Supposedly I found out that Mall of America does not want bad publicity and wants to stay "family friendly" and hence the hush hush.

by the way there is a song called "gloomy sunday: and its said lot of people have comited suicide by listening to it :)

i have a co-worker was there that saw the body hit they were standing less then 10 feet when he hit. it was described as a load explosion from all of his bones breaking and the blood was shooting out of his mouth at least a foot in the air. all that you could see was him twitch for a couple seconds and then relax. All that anyone could do was cry and throw up from the site.

It seems that he was not the only person to have jumped of a ramp building in the history of mall of america. I wish that they would say more about on the news for those who were there and had questions of why he did this.

I was going shopping at the mall that day with my mom and stepdad, and we were walking across the akyway after we had parked and people were crowding around the windows, so we looked down there and at first i didnt see anything but the police all standing down there, and my mom had asked a women what had happened, and she said that some teenage boy got hit by a car while riding his bike across the street. I thought it was really sad, but then we started back into the mal and i looked down one more and SAW THE BLOOD! I am 15 years old and never had anything bothered me as much as what I had seen, i honestly started to cry. I found out later the next day that it was a suicide, and freaked me out even more. In my opinion, i think people need to be aware of how pople get treated and what it can make them do, something that terrible must have happened to that man to make him jump of the 6th story of a parking ramp. Think about that..

i work at a hair salon and two of the stylists i work with went outside for a smoke break, while i was inside scheduling them with more clients. They came back in with such pale faces, i had to ask what happened. the girls told me that they had just seen a man hit the ground and "splat" to his death no less then 10 feet infront of them. i was shocked yet compelled, it really makes everything so surreal.

Yes, it was a suicide. I acutally work with the man's niece. His wife cheated on him, he took her back he caught her again. She left him took all their money and most of the items in his home. I don't know why pick the Mall of America? who knows.

It really is an unfortunate event, public suicides effect a lot of people by traumatizing the men women and children who whitness such an event and the family thatis torn apart by it. I am one of the officers who was present at the scene, and I want to thank those who kept clear and did not impede our efforts. As with any crisis situation it is important people and cars clear the way for emergency vehicles so the men and women in ems and law enforcenent can perform the critical tasks necessary to save lives.

For all of you commenting on this, of course the Mall isn't going to show this to the public. Do you know how many children are always at the mall? Why the Mall of America of all places? Do we all feel cool because we were there? NO this is not the first time its happened, I have been there for 3 other instances. I have worked at the mall for 6 years. Think of how many have happened when I wasnt there and the only reason I know is because I work very close with Mall Security. Its a damn shame if you ask me.

Breaks my heart. January 8th is my birthday and also my husband committed suicide in 2006. Weird and scary coincidence for me. I have always hated parking on the east side of the mall. I feel for the persons family and for the victim. I've been through this. Poor guy. Depression is serious and if you're making fun of this person, you have serious issues yourself.

The victims name was Chris we went to the funeral on Saturday. we dont need to read about the blood & all the other nasty comments regarding his death (like loud explosion all the bones breaking) . Chris was only 27 years old and made a bad choice let him and his family find some peace.

Dear Lord,

Please guide this man and help him find his way though he is now gone. May he find his way into your arms and finally find the peace and love that he is searching for. Take away his grief, sadness, anger, hurt, and anything that is causing his pain and bring him peace. Please Dear Lord this man needs your help.

Amen

Reading this story makes me feel so sad. What kind of pain was this man in to do such a thing? How are people dealing with the trauma of it all? This also makes me think of Peter, Paul and Mary's song "500 Miles." This incident is just so sad.

Dear Lord,

Please help those who witnessed the event, heard about it, or are hurting, traumatized, and confused about all this. Guide them so they may find peace. God please bless and watch over the family of this poor man. May they find peace and comfort. Thank you dear Lord.

Amen

There was another suicide at mall of america, that was someone jumping from 4th floor in the mall, sometime in March 2010. I heard one very brief message on the radio, then nothing. Where are the reports on it? This is freedom of speech, something hushed up because the corporation didn't want bad things reported???
