New Phone Scam in CW Co.

A new telephone scam is hitting Crow Wing County.

Sheriff Todd Dahl warns residents to beware of a telephone message asking for credit and debit card numbers and/or social security numbers.

The person called is asked to punch their number into the phone and then they are given a number to call with questions or concerns. The number is for a real estate office in New York who was also the victim of a scam.

Unfortunately, the automated scams are just one of many cons and scams that occur on a regular basis in our area, says Sheriff Dahl who reminds everyone “If it’s too good to be true it probably is a scam.”
