Lawmakers Work Deficit Reduction

State Representative Larry Howes says legislators have paired a third of the spending required to eliminate the $900 state deficit. He tells KLKS News, nine state agencies will sustain a 3 percent cut.

The Walker Republican also says cuts to the sentence to serve program will be softened, and the cuts to local aid will be reduced from $250 million to $105 million.

Representative Howes says Brainerd should be able to restore the six fire fighter positions that were eliminated.
