Cougar Killed Near Bemidji

(AP) Bemidji had a rare visitor Friday night. A mountain lion was struck and killed by a car near the northern Minnesota town.

The animal has been taken to a Department of Natural Resources station in Grand Rapids for a necropsy. Researchers are interested in learning what it was eating.

Confirmed mountain lion sightings are a rare occurrence in Minnesota.
