More than 2,500 Minnesota Power customers in the Pequot Lakes and Pine River areas were without electricity Thursday afternoon. Officials say equipment failed at a power substation. Spokeswoman Nancy Norr told the Brainerd Dispatch the equipment failed just after 4pm and cut off 2,600 customers. Power was restored to 2,000 customers by 4:40pm, the rest by 5:20pm. Crow Wing Power spokeswoman Char Kinzer said some of her company's customers were affected as well.
